I've narrowed down my Westchester relocation (from Manhattan) search to Rye City, because of the train schedule, proximity to beach and pool, beauty of it, great schools, taxes, and general vibe.

I have 2 boys, age 2 and 4.

I was wondering if any Rye City residents could provide advice about differences between the 3 elementary schools in Rye city (only Rye city, not Harrison, or Rye Neck!).

We'll be coming from a very progressive, child-lead preschool. I understand that most public elementary schools will not be this way (and will be more traditional, kids at desks, rigid class schedules etc). But, are any of the 3 elementary schools more progressive leaning?

Eg, things like following the children's interests, to a certain degree (e.g., if the kids are interested in studying fish, rather than butterflies, they will let them), tables rather than desks, experiential learning, etc...

Any pros and cons (specific examples appreciated!) about any of the schools very very much appreciated!

Are you aware of the parking permit situation in Rye? You mention train schedules... You'll be waiting something crazy like 6-10 years for a permit last time I checked. Do you have a plan for getting to the station?

Hi, we are in a similar situation. Moving to Rye in next few weeks & trying to figure out elementary schools. Did you learn anything useful you could share please? Thanks!
