My guess is that you'd find similar complaints about popular suburban areas of most cities in the US. Some people have valid complaints because they really don't fit the culture of the place. Others complain just to complain.

Those are two VERY desirable things for many, many people. Easy commute to Manhattan, safe, family friendly suburbs with top-notch (good is an understatement, some are best in nation) school districts are not easy to find outside of Westchester.

And yes, kids' education is a priority for many families.

I come from California, your whole state is cheap. Get a grip.
If you are angry that you can't afford what you want, find what you can rather then spewing out your crap.
It doesn't get anywhere.

I just sold a 753 sq foot house in Venice where you can't really walk out past 11pm without fear for $1.7M.
Its the same everywhere unless you are in a bubble

The issue that I have with Westchester is the tolerance that residents have for an obvious and enormous amount of corruption at all levels of living. Living in a town with unbelievably high taxes and a volunteer fire department?? Extraordinary!

Corruption is everywhere. The more money that is available and the more tolerant people are of corruption, the higher the cost of living will be. Westchester is nirvana for the most corrupt. Fairfield County is right up there with Westchester and of course Montgomery County, MD is the creative source for all of the corruption. All of these counties have the highest cost of living without getting anything tangible or intangible for it.

It's amazing these people put up with it.

Amen..how about the public schools asking for monthly donations and hundreds supplies from the parents. Remember the days when the state assumed the costs for school supplies? Not any more! My hefty tax bracket should be taking care of this!!

For what it's worth, the corrupt bureaucracy has never lived better. That if course doesn't mean they're satisfied.

Is this going on in the better school districts of Westchester? Why are they now asking for donations???
