Does anyone know anything about the neighborhood around the 155 Ferris Avenue or the 512 Mamaroneck Avenue co-ops? I'm a single white female considering making an offer on an apartment in one of those buildings but know nothing about White Plains except that it looks like a nice city. Thank you. Any input will be greatly appreciated.

Avoid Ferris Avenue. It's one of the few sketchy blocks in a city that's otherwise mostly free of problem areas.

I don't know anything about the specific building, but the Mamaroneck Avenue location is fine. You'll be in the immediate vicinity of amenities (CVS, hardware store, a couple of nice delis, some good Italian restaurants) and about a ten minute walk away from the core of downtown. My main concern with that location would be noise, since the building is sandwiched in between a major road and a municipal parking lot.

I wouldn't void Ferries Ave. Areas that aren't already ritzy have the greatest potential for future growth.

AVOID FERRIS AVE AT ALL COST. There was a shooting there on Friday over a pair of sneakers. A shooting this past summer at the park just next to the building. STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!
