Hi- I was wondering if anyone could recommend a mortgage banker or broker they recently used and had a good experience with in Westchester County area? We got our preapproval with a major bank, but need to shop around a bit. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

I am exposed to many professionals in the RE field, I really like Christian Babcock - Mortgage Masters (loan depot)
Christian Babcock | Mortgage Master | Home Loans, Refinance, Mortgage Rates, Jumbo, FHA, VA Loans

I recommend him to almost all my clients - recently, a client came with a preapproval and we are in contract on a property. Unfortunately, her mtg professional didn't qualify her properly and now she is having major issues and will probably lose the property. I suggested she call Christian and she told me, the info he provided was like night and day vs the professional she used- she wished she took my advise and used him from the beginning. GOOD LUCK!

My best recommendation is: get the best rate! In my experience the major banks have the most competitive rates and lower closing costs. Everyone will ask for the same documents. Local banks have almost always higher rates.

Good luck!

We used Prospect Mortgage which has several local offices but, as the earlier poster noted, you should shop around for the best rate and overall terms. Lending fees vary wildly and many are discretionary with some negotiation.
