korvyle is on a distinguished road
Default edgemont, ny

Dear all,
My husband and I have two kids (3-year old and one-year old) and are planning on settling down in Westchester county. We are looking to buy a house in Edgemont. Can you please help us to understand the difference in the communities of Scarsdale, Edgemont, and Larchmont, as we have just moved from Boston, and are not familiar with the area.
Thank you.
Lena

Edgemont is the name of the school district, i.e. there is no such town/hamlet called edgemont. The town you are looking at is called Hartsdale/Greenville (I think) which is in the town of Greenburgh.

Scarsdale borders Hartsdale/Greenville, so the school districts border each other. Larchmont is more in the Southeastern portion of the county, by the sound, whereas Scarsdale and Hartsdale are more in the central part of the county, towards the southern area.

All of these towns have extremly extremly (it is important for me to emphasize this) extremly good school districts. The edgmont school district was rated the best in westchester, and with that said, one of the top in the country. Scarsdale would probably be number 2 or 3 in westchester. Larchmont is up there.

Also another thing to note these places are extremly nice, great places to live (Larchmont is one of the best places to live in a national media). With that said is that these places are extremly expensive. Taxes and home prices are ridiculous.

But hey if you can afford it, I say go for it...it is truly the best you can offer your children.

All of the above mentioned places have Metro-North commuter access to NYC and can get you into Grand central in 30-45 minutes.

Good Luck with your search.
