These questions are so subjective. My thermostat is set on 68 when we are awake and in the house, 60 when we are asleep and 50 when we are not in the house in the winter.

My neighbor on one side thinks I am crazy for letting it stay "cold". They keep their house 76 when awake and in the house, 72 when they sleep and 60 when not in the house in the winter.

Their heating bills is about double mine. It can cost a lot more to add 8 or 10 degrees to a house. So much of this is dependent on the personal choices one makes.
