Smile Florida to New York

Hello,
We are a family of five, one going to college somewhere in the Northeast this fall, and we may be moving to New York for a job opportunity. Our concern is finding affordable housing (800k) for my husband and I and our 9 and 12 year old girls. We would like to be near Manhattan but still own a home. The commute time should be no more than 45 minutes total for a position in midtown. What is the best location to purchase a home in? Should we consider Westchester County? Somewhere in CT or NJ? We like neighborhoods and are used to a surburban lifestyle. Since living in FL for 5 years we have traveled to NE each summer for 5 weeks. We are not crazy about the Florida lifestyle. Any input would be helpful.

We are seeing a trend of New Yorkers coming over to New Jersey. Some say it is more affordable. Towns like Westfield and Cranford have a lot to offer, while, just about a 45 minute commute. These are commuter towns and you'll find others making the same commute. May equate to more house for your money.

Hello good afternoon

Have you tried to search websites like postlets or realtor. com they are helpful in allowing you to search for properties while getting additional information about the areas.

Plug in the westcheste area-pelham and new rochelle may offer you affordability with the benefit of a short commute to the city.

Scarsdale is a great town about 15 minutes north of the city. You can take the Harlem line into Grand Central or simply drive. I go to high school in Scarsdale and the teachers are cool, the school is real nice, the schools are great, we have a nice student lounge, the people are classy but also uptight. And a major plus for the Northeast is that the houses are distinguishable.

Scarsdale sounds like a good place for you and your family.
