Default Where to look for old obituaries from Port Chester area?

Hello, I am trying to find a copy of my great grandfather's obituary. I believe he died in the early 70s and he was from Port Chester. I assume a local newspaper would archive these, can anyone tell me where I should look? It would have to be a newspaper that has been in circulation since that time, of course. I think his wife died several years earlier, so if I could search back even farther, that would be ideal. Thanks

Perhaps your local library could help?

I'm not local to Port Chester. I could always take a drive out (I'm planning to do so in warmer months), but I don't want to be stuck doing research all day. I was hoping that I could do it all by email; my local paper has almost all of their issues archived by name and I figured other papers with a long history would do so as well.

I just shot them an email, we'll see what happens. According to wikipedia, of all places, Journal News bought out 'The Daily Item,' Port Chester's resident newspaper, and hopefully they also retained their archival materials.

VA Yankee will become famous soon enough
My family is also from Port Chester, as mentioned the Journal News is the local paper for decades. If you knew your Great Grandfathers religious affiliation the church/synagague is most likely still there and would have records.

Default Grandfathers Obit

The best place to find Obit information is at the Port Chester Pubic Library, I used for building our family tree. It is excellent. If you can't get here, Just ask someone who is in the area. What is the name your looking for. I'm a Port Chester native.Perhaps I may have known him. I'm 76 years old.

Default Beech Street

The picture shows dwellings that definitly were not Beech Street.More likely houses on Grace Church Street a few blocks away. What was your grandfathers last name?
