I recently completed my master's degree in Cincinnati and will be starting a job in Armonk in mid April. I know the White Plains area the best and find it a perfect match for a young adult as me (Im a 23yr old female). Ive been told my my future employer that White Plains would be a great place to live, however, I will be living by myself and want something no higher than $1250/per mn. Ideally, I would like to live in an apartment complex where I might meet fellow young professionals, but I have no idea where to begin that search. I need honest feedback here folks, Ive got 3 weeks to move! PS I also would LOVE to get very involved in the community, i.e. chamber of white plains, philanthropy organizations etc...any ideas??

White Plains is a great City!! It is like a small NYC. There a lots of young professionals in downtown White Plains. The rental prices have skyrocketed like Manhattan prices so it may be hard to find a 1 bedroom rental. Good luck!!

My advice would be to contact a realtor in the White Plains area. You might be able to find an apartment on the more residential side of WP in your price range.

Hi! I used to live in White Plains for 8 years and loved it so much. You'd be happy living there. Look in the North Broadway area, nice place for walking and very near downtown. Lots of young professionals there too. The problem will be finding something in your price range. Can you raise your budget a bit? Like it was said before, WP is now a little Manhattan and has become very appealing. Contacting a broker will be best because they can show you only what you can afford. If you look on your own, check the newspaper Journal News, they get lots of listings. Also, consider apt sharing. Here is a link of the city's web page. If you want to get involved, there may be opportunities with the Youth Bureau or the Senior Center. City of White Plains Good luck! |

White Plains has a lot of great areas. If you know you are going to be in the area for 4 years or more you might think about an area co-op. Sometimes you can get a deal on a one bedroom or studio.
All the best! KEVIN O'SHEA |
