Hi all, I wanted to ask about the vibe among the families in Rye Neck OUTSIDE of Greenhaven /Shore Acres.
Is it correct to say this area is a bit less professional/less white collar? Eg fewer families will have college-educated parents than say nearby Larchmont ? I’m referring to the streets between Boston Post Rd and Halstead Ave. I am genuinely sorry if my question doesn’t sound very considerate...

To answer your question Mamaroneck is definitely more socio-economically diverse than neighboring Larchmont and has a much larger proportion of "affordable" and higher-end homes. It makes for an interesting dynamic, when you have homes in the $500k range all the way up to $10MM.

I am not sure how many "blue collar" aka "Not College Educated" (not sure those are interchangeable though) folks can afford 800K - 1.3+ houses with 15-30K taxes.. because that is what it costs to live on Wagner, Beach, Melbourne, Carroll etc...
The sales price in non-Greenhaven/non-Shore Acres is $800k+ for a starter family home (but about 20% lower than in Greenhaven) but a lot of real estate has been occupied for a long time and acquired at much lower cost. I do get a feeling it’s more of a “working class” (sorry) neighborhood...

It sounds like you already had an answer to your question.

That is correct. You will find that quite a few are actually multi-generational households.

I guess so... but wanted to verify hopefully with someone who has had more encounters with the Neighbour hood... also the school ranking are quite strong so I was puzzled.

I have "encounters" in the neighborhood and most all of the people fit the mold of those who can afford 800+ houses with 18K+ taxes...
Schools with strong ratings are not supposed to have "working class" people? What exactly is your point here?? This is not the first time you started a thread about this either... If you cannot afford Shore Acres/Greenhaven and you feel you are too good for the rest of Rye Neck than please buy somewhere else LOL...
