Of course. Even though I'm bouncing all over the place with my replies (looong day).
but, generally. try to get as close to North Broadway as possible. OR. Just go into silver lake.

Yeah Lake Street close to North Broadway is fine.
Once you get down towards North Kensico Ave it starts turning cr@ppy.

The building by the water and next to the ice rink? That's the projects.

Well, I'm not sure if it's the projects.. It's just government subsidized housing, or something like that.
I was in there once, for a friend. Let's just say.. I never talked to her again.

I'd recommend North Broadway for your as well however, Lake St is NOT that bad. Just stay away of Kensico and below because it is a small commercial area full of bodegas (grocery stores) and other businesses including two smelly restaurants. In that area there are a lot of multifamily homes that might rent to questionable people.
If I could return to WP and Lake was the area I could afford, I'd move there without a second thought, but then again, I was used to it so I know what is is all about. Areas I'd never consider are South Lexington by Post Rd and Ferris Avenue.
The Eastview school is really on Main St, I don't know that It affects Lake.
Good luck!
