When you look at google earth, why does the state of NY look so much more brown than NJ or CT which are very green (I know NJ is called the garden state!). Isn't Westchester county and upper New York filled with parks and rivers and beautiful scenery too? Maybe it was the time of year? Just curious.

The satellite photos were taken during a different season. That's all. The level of greenery is, of course, seamless as you move from state to state - the trees and other flora don't care about state boundaries.
