Default Real estate taxes in Croton-on-Hudson
The taxes I see listed for houses on the market in the $550,000 - 650,000 range in Croton-on-Hudson is typically $14-16,000. Is this typical?

Sounds about right. Living in Westchester is expensive.

Taxes do vary a lot--they have more to do with square footage and property size than with market price. I just checked 4 listings in Croton--one at 800K had taxes of 15K, one at 700K had taxes of 19K, one at 640K had taxes of 13k, and another at 650k had taxes of 14K. Also remember that the STAR discount should shave about 2K off of the actual tax bill.
