Agreed. Check out Fleetwood. You can walk to the supermarket, restaurants and the train station. Train is 28 minutes from Manhattan. The hub of the district is Gramatan Avenue. There are a bunch of nice looking coop buildings in this area.

Forget Mount Kisco. As nice as it is, it is just too far away.

I would agree with trying Mt. Kisco the co-ops are affordable, the metro is near all of the co-op complexes, also when u decide to have children Mt. Kisco has it's own grammar schools but once the children start middle school they join the Bedford school system which is considered one of the better school systems. Tarrytown is also decent both in community and schools. With easy connections on the hwy for 20min arrivals to CT, Jersey, rockland, Manhattan etc. good luck
