Default Commute from White Plains to Cold Spring?

I am considering a job offer in White Plains, and would love to live in Cold Spring/Garrison area. Can anyone tell me about that commute? Is it under an hour?? I would love to live in Putnam Co, but don't want to drive TOO far...

That drive should be within an hour. It is certainly doable. Also look into Somers, and Yorktown (in westchester) as well. They are charming as well.

RET-FDNY is on a distinguished road
We live in Garrison (for now) It is a very nice area and very commutable to White Plains. The only problem is the congestion that you hit on route 287 when you get into that area. You will have to travel South on the Taconic PKWY to Rte 287 and then take 287 eastbound into White Plains. That road is VERY congested during the morning and evening rush hours.

We have Metro North here, but it is on the Hudson Line, White Plains is on the Harlem Line. I realize that most of the jobs in White Plains are pretty remote from the downtown station, so driving would be a necessity regardless.

Good Luck
