Condo vs. Co-op/taxes in Westchester
It seems that most of the apartments that are in my price range (250K MAX) are co-ops. Is there a particular area that has more condos available or am I pretty much stuck with the co-op situation? If so, do most of the co-op fees include taxes and utilities? Or is that variable?
I am single, over 30 and work in Midtown. Based on advice from friends I've been looking at listings in mostly these areas: Hastings-on-Hudson, Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and then Yonkers, Bronxville, Eastchester.
I prefer a more liberal/artsy and/or historice type area, though the main requirement is that the commute to midtown is no longer than 45 minutes and being able to walk to a train or bus to the city would be ideal. (shops would be a plus, too)
Also, information on areas in which the property taxes are lower would be helpful as well.
