Pleasantville Town Size
Hello,
My husband and I are looking to buy a home (currently rent in NYC). I am from NJ and he is from CT. We are considering Northern New Jersey, Fairfield County in CT, and Westchester. We don't know much about Westchester, but recently found some nice homes listed in Pleasantville. The town has a good high school ranking, but seems rather small. Is the high school able to offer diverse activities for so few students? Are any of the sports team competitive? Any insights on the town are appreciated. We have considered Tenafly (homes too pricey) and Ridgefield (commute too long) but those haven't really worked out.
Thanks!

My guess is you'll get much more for your $$ in CT or No. NJ. Are you commuting to NYC?

Yes, we would be commuting from NYC. Ridgefield and Fairfield seem nice and more affordable but that commute seems like it would get old. My husband wants a newer construction (built after 2003). Our budget has gone from 600K to 1MM as we have looked at houses. Lol, it still seems like we can't find anything newer for that price anywhere without major drawbacks (too close to train, no property whatsover, not a nice part of town, etc.).

Westchester has several larger school districts, and several smaller school districts. Obviously, there are pros and cons of each. But yes, Pleasantville schools have a good reputation.
In your price range, you can find other options in Westchester as well.
There isn't that much newer construction in Pleasantville. I know of 3 or 4 plots on Skytop Drive, where a builder is offering new construction for $700-800K. But be warned, they are very hilly and small lots.
You might want to try Ardsley-- In your price range, you might find some newer construction there. Schools are still excellent.

Definitely. Competitive and varied athletic programs. Football team is traditionally one of the best in the area as are its baseball teams. Extensive other extracurricular activities. Plus the school does well to offer some programs for everyone.
There is very little by way of new construction, however.
