Just want to confirm...is there any bus into New Rochelle directly from and to NYC?...or is it basically only the Metro.

The only other way to go is to take the Bee Line Bus to the subway in the Bronx. That would alleviate having to commute on MetroNorth, but would likely be a significantly longer trip in terms of time.
