I went to Playland yesterday to walk around for exercise, but to my dismay, senior parking rates during the weekdays went from $1.00 to $5.00! I decided not to pay the increased parking fee and told the parking attendant to let me through the gate and I would leave the lot immediately. With the high property taxes I have paid for years to live in Westchester County, I think seniors on fixed incomes should be given more perks, not higher fees. I wish the interest on my bank account would go up 500%!!!

Note: I appreciate Rob Astorino's efforts to reduce county taxes, but seniors struggling to hang on and stay in Westchester County despite high taxes deserve a break when using the parks with convenient bathrooms to walk for exercise to stay healthy! Besides, I spend money on food and drinks once I am in the park, but now I have to say goodbye to Playland.

Rob Astorino's efforts are the cause of the increase. It is privatized now. It reduces some costs, but increases others. Sorry this hits your pocket so hard. I wish they kept it low for seniors. I agree with your thoughts.

I agree that it is a shame, but if you are swearing off Playland for a $5 parking fee, you should probably be reserving your limited funds for food anyway.

I went to playland for the first time on Saturday; got there around 10am and the parking was free and the place was a ghost town. Apparently this place has weird hours and if you get there before the attendants, the parking is free. We had a wonderful day- spent some time in the children's museum, strolled the boardwalk, and had lunch at the tiki bar right when it opened.

I don't understand how gems like these can open so late but I'm not complaining- we definitely enjoyed having the entire place to ourselves. Note that we skipped out on the amusement park portion.
