Parking Ticket in Port Chester (office, money, payment)

My meter expired and Murphy's laws ensured a cop showed up out of the blue

I have a red and white parking summons ticket with a 25$ fine, which is alright.

But what creeps me out is that there is an entry called court date and it's been entered for 25th of Feb.

Problem is, I am travelling in westchester county and will return back to NC state. And I would need to make a special trip and spend money to appear in court.

There is also a pay by internet option. But can someone please tell me that I can pay and close this online without travelling all the way to NY again.

Please help. Does the court date mean that we must go to the court before a judge or is it something like a due date and is just a mere payment date.

I called their office and they told me it's fine that I pay online, but I don't want a summons letter following suit that I violated a court appearance.

I believe if you pay the ticket, you admit guilt and therefor, do not have to appear in court since if you appear, you are pleading not guilty to appeal the ticket. You should be good to go by paying the ticket online.

I have had a few tickets for things I thought were unfair, and pled guilty by mail, but included a note to the judge explaining the problem. I've gotten out of a few fines this way.
