Default Try Pelham

The school district is excellent. Some people are down to earth here. There are houses for sale in the 500K range.

Sure, a 15-30 minute backup from any of those entry points, but that is still faster than far northern Westchester.
I'll rephrase. Every colleague I knew that had to make a Hudson crossing, and there were many, was very unhappy about it. GW is hell too.

ardsley is on a distinguished road
Look at Ardsley....OK, I'm partial after living there 23 years. I taught in Mamaroneck. Ardsley schools are excellent, there are still some modest homes in the area--which will probably need updating if you find a lower priced one. Some parts of Dobbs Ferry and Hartsdale are in the Ardsley School district. Easy drive to NYC, Just my $.02--worth a look.
