Rye NY?
Can anyone give me info on the City of Rye, NY. We had a look last week at some houses and schools. Loved the schools. But, was a bit confused about the housing. It is a real mixed bag! Some streets look really rundown and then one street over it looks rather nice?? Does anyone know anything about living there? With Playland there, does there seem to be more crime?
Any info would be great!

Those rundown streets? Those are the million dollar homes. The nice streets are unaffordable.
Moderator cut: linking to competitors sites is not allowed You are going to choke when you see home prices in Rye. It is very nice. Excellent public schools, nice beach. The only downside to Rye is being next door to Port Chester.

Seems the Rye Brook is the nicer area. Is that the case?

Basically 90% of Westchester County is really nice. Just be wary of certain areas & towns like Portchester, Mount Vernon, and parts of New Roc City and White Plains.

Yeah parts of Yonkers are sketchy. The Southeast part of Yonkers by Woodlawn & Dunwoodie is pretty decent though. If you live here though and have kids they should go to parochial school. Public schools in Yonkers aren't the best.

Rye and Rye Brook are both very expensive areas though Rye is a lot more expensive. Rye Brook is smaller and borders Portchester, the school district is Blind Brook. Within Rye, there is Rye City, Rye neck and Rye. True Rye costs a fortune, even with Playland. Dockside is right, those run-down shacks are the million $$ homes, the nicer areas are just not affordable. You may have better luck in Rye Brook though its not cheap there either.

Mostly all of them. White Plains downtown is building up and North White Plains is supposed to be pretty good. Yonkers has good and bad.
