How much work is it to make a pass-through from the kitchen to the dining room? (inspection)

Does anyone know how much it would cost/how long it would take just very roughly to create a passthrough window from my kitchen to my dining room? It would make life so much easier, but I have no idea how big a project it would be. Thank you!

It depends on whether the wall you're going to be cutting into is a load-bearing wall! Only an inspection will be able to determine that.

An architect can determine if a wall is load-bearing and where and how big of an opening the wall can take. The actually work is practically nothing--you knock open a space and then finish off the edges. But get an architect to make sure it is safe.

The only other concern is if there are pipes (heating/water) in the wall that you want to modify. A plumber might have to come in and re-route them around the pass-through.

It's simple. Making a window is the easiest thing to do. You can do it yourself. Even a load bearing wall, just make sure the window stays below the header which should be 2x10. So the top of your window should start 15 inches below the ceiling.

Make an outline of where you want the window.
Take a hammer (NOT A SAW) and start breaking the sheetrock within your guidelines.
Before hitting the next piece, try to take a look inside the bay.

Wires are easier to re-route than pipes. If there's pipes then it'll cost you more than you think.
