Heathcote area Scarsdale (Mamaroneck, Ridge, Larchmont: homes, neighborhood, middle school)

We are moving this summer from the Netherlands to the heathcote area in Scarsdale. How is that neighborhood? School? International? Anything else I should know before we go there?

Heathcote Area is probably the more affluent part of Scarsdale. There are several large estates in this area. It all depends on what you are looking for in a community. The school is excellent. There is not much diversity in this part of town, internationally. The neighborhood is generally very safe and it's generally hard to know your neighbors. People keep to themselves mostly. You'll get to know other parents once your child(ren) starts school.

I know the Quaker Ridge area close to Mamaroneck is very international and the part of Mamaroneck zoned for Quaker Ridge schools is very international too. If you have not made a firm decision for Heathcote I will suggest Quaker Ridge instead. The school is good, there is really not that much difference btw the Scarsdale elementary school.

You could also consider Larchmont and Mamaroneck which are more international in general.

It is the wealthiest port of Scarsdale, so you have a lot of really large homes, but also a few small and medium sized homes. The kids will all go to the Heathcote Elementary school, but will share a middle school and high school with the rest of scarsdale.
