Default What can $300,000 buy me?

I am hoping to buy a condo in either Yonkers, White Plains or Mount Vernon (north side). Could $300,000 buy me a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom large , newer/renovated(1300 square feet and up) condo in a good neighborhood in any of those three cities? If 300,000 is not enough how much more would I need? $350,000 enough? Asode from that question can somebody name a few condo complexes in North Mount Vernon please.

Your best bet at that price is northern Mt. Vernon. Now most complexes are actually co-ops, not condos. The two condo complexs I know of in Mt. Vernon (at least on the north side) are Lorraine Gardens, which is off Lorraine Avenue and 777 MacQuesten Parkway in Fleetwood. On Locust Street in Fleetwood there was a condo complex being developed called Vista, but it is in suspension because the builder went bankrupt. There are also rumors of the old Reliable Sprinkler Co. HQ being replaced with a condo complex, but no definite groundbreaking yet.

Coops will be much cheaper than condos (although your monthly maintenance fee will be higher). The Fleetwood section has plenty of them, as does a stretch of Lincoln Avenue between Columbus Avenue and the Pelham border.

You will do equally well price-wise in Yonkers, though you will pay a city income tax and again I think it is mostly coops and not condos. Good luck!

Thanks a lot. I will probably look into the condos. I am not a big fan of coops.
