Default Any places to go skeet/trap shooting near NYC?

I got hooked on Skeet/trap shooting (with shotguns, at clay birds, with scoring...for anyone unfamiliar) during recent business trips to the south. Some places in texas look at it like a better version of golf.

Are there any places to go around NYC? I've read about Orvis Sandanona, which looks amazing, but is wayyy up north in the boonies and I dont think there are even trains up there.

Any other more local options? Perhaps in Westchester/LI/NJ area? With public transport? And free ice cream? (hey, as long as i'm dreaming)

Years ago the NY Athletic Club at Travers Island (Pelham?) had a skeet range. It's pretty far removed from "free ice cream", but there's also a pool, restuarant etc etc. The range made a lot of noise (duh) and has probably been long since shut down, but it's worth checking into to be sure.

The NYPD also has a firing range not too far away towards City Island but the admission requirements are more stringent than most people would accept.

guns, what? I don't know if this is what you had in mind, but Blue Mountain Reservation just north of Croton has a shooting range and the site does mention "skeet shooting":

Sportsman Center

I'm not a huge expert on this, but the only one I knew of was the Sportsman Center (used to pass it on my commute) and the NYPD one mentioned (called "Rodman's Neck"). NYC just isn't a "skeet shooting" kind of town......
