Yonkers is a city in the southwest part of Westchester County, to the immediate north of the New York City Borough of the Bronx.
The City of Yonkers and the "Yonkers, NY" ZIP Code postal zone have different borders and there is a small area of the New York City Borough of the Bronx that has a "Yonkers, NY" mailing address, even though this area in the New York City Borough of the Bronx is not in the City of Yonkers.

And, neighborhoods within the city of Yonkers range from urban environments (some not so great) to placid suburban streets with large single-family homes.

Yonkers is more of a suburb now than a real separate city. Most people here commute somewhere.
