Default Eastchester - Anyone?

Hello everyone,

We will be moving to Eastchester in the summer and was hoping to get some more information from the "insider" there.

What is it like?
Are people friendly and helpful?
Younger families with kids?
Schools - Greenvale Elementary, daycares
diversity etc

Any insights you can provide would be very helpful.

Thanks

My husband grew up in Eastchester and we are living there now while our home gets renovated.
Eastchester is a nice area with friendly people and family neighborhoods. There are lots of families with young children and plenty of activities for kids. I highly reccomend getting a membership to Lake Isle esp since you're moving in the summer. Its inexpensive for Eastchester residents and they have a great pool (several in fact) plus a golf course if you or your spouse likes to golf.
Main shopping area is on Rte 22 where you will find everything you need from Trader Joe's to Borders to Old Navy etc.
Eastchester is bordered by Scarsdale and Tuckahoe and is a close drive to White Plains. Eastchester schools are pretty good, though in certain parts of Eastchester, are in the Tuckahoe School district (which is also pretty good).
Overall is really a nice part of Southern Westchester, with no bad areas, decent schools and close proximity to shopping, entertainment, and NYC!
