Default Company moving from LI to Ardsley - help!

My company is moving to Ardsley from central Long Island. I live in Nassau county. company is giving 2 months to decide on commuting vs relocation. Not familiar at all with Westchester since I have been born and raised on LI. Have my own family, kids in elementary and middle school, husband works in NYC.
Can anyone offer comments on commute from LI to Ardsley and return?
What about towns to settle in that have good schools and housing that a middle income family can afford? Any info on sports programs, especially ice hockey? Thanks so much !!!

There are people who commute from LI to Westchester. In my White Plains office, we have a couple commuters from Nassau. A bit of a hassle, but it can be done.

There are plenty of nice towns with good schools, including Ardsley-- But when you talk about affordability, what type of budget did you have in mind?

I live in Ardsley. Great neighborhoods, school district is top notch and a nice small community. Housing prices have gone down so it may be more affordable. As for the commute, can be a bit nightmarish so you may want to think long and hard about that.

I am not sure about ice hockey but the Westchester Skating Academy is close by and I see a lot of teams of all ages practicing there so there are definitely hockey programs in the area.
