Any insight on the Elementary schools, including Transfiguration? I've checked the websites - now would like some insider scoops

I think lots of families send their kids to private schools there.

Our son attends Transfiguration School in Tarrytown - he is only in pre-K, so I can't speak for the upper grades, but we have been very happy with his learning this year. He loves the school, and also the after school program. At first I had mixed feelings - and thought I might send him to public school for K. However, he (and we) like it so much that I don't think we'll change. The discipline is very good, classes are small, and it just has a "homey" feel.

Most of the community sends their children to the Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow public school district. There are some at Transfiguration and other private schools. It all depends if your child needs special services/programs, try to stick to public. If you child has no concerns and want him/her in a small school setting, and you don't mind paying, you can try private.
BTW - Transfig has a nice catholic school setting, and the church is always filled to capacity - get there early if you want a good seat.

IMO the public schools are as high quality as some of the private schools in other regions of the country--- but if you can afford private schools-- def go for it!!

why not look a town below tarrytown, "Irvington." Great blue ribbon public schools that are not too big not to small. the elementary school is set back in a quiet setting overlooking the hudson. Although, houses might be more expensive you don't have to pay for private school, so it might work out better. Another benefit is you don't have traffic congestion and mathisiean park and scenic park right on the hudson adds to the quality of life.

What are some private school options in Tarrytown other than Transfiguration and Hackley? How many elementary schools are there in Sleepy Hollow/Tarrytown District?
