possible move to westchester area. (Yonkers, New Rochelle: safe area, good schools, live in)

Hi folks,

I presently live in Baltimore/ DC area making not enough to support family of four. I am looking at a job that pays significantly more but in Westchester county NY. We are a mixed race family with school age children. Is there a diverse, safe town with good schools to recommend. New Rochelle or White Plains look more affordable but are they safe? How are the schools? I also see that Stamford CT is more affordable. Any thoughts are appreciated.

All the towns you listed, White Plains, New Rochelle, and Stamford are fairly safe. The only REALLY bad towns in Westchester are some sections of Yonkers and Mount Vernon.

There are sections of White Plains that aren't safe but it's a pretty big town. The unsafe areas are in southern White Plains, closer to the city.
