Exclamation Fall foliage...need answers!

I was thinking of checking out fall foliage in the White Plains and Tarrytown areas? Is it all gone? The weather has sucked this fall and this weekend is the 1st opportunity for me to check it out.

It's almost done, as evidenced by the humongous piles of leaves on the sides of the roads, but I think there are still enough leaves for you to have a decent trip.

That's good to hear. The Maples seem to have the most leaves, the oaks, the least. At least here on Long Island.

If you're willing to train down to the City, Central Park tends to have the leaves turn a lot later than even southern Westchester. While the leaves are somewhat OK here in Westchester (though in the far northern part of the county they're mostly gone), I noticed while watching the NYC Marathon on Sunday on TV that many of the trees in Central Park were still green.

I think it has to do with being surrounded by all those tall buildings, makes it much warmer at night (urban heat island effect) so it's by far the last place in the metro area to have the leaves turn. Enjoy!

North of I-287 it's completely finished as far as color is concerned. There are a few oaks with leaves, but they're brown. It's breezy today, so by tomorrow they'll be mostly gone too.

Well there was still good foliage in spots in Rockefeller State Park when I went on Friday. I didn't make it to Liberty park on the east side of White Plains, that Rockefeller Park is HUGE.
I'm sure the leaves are all gone now though, but here on Long Island the foliage is peaking right now.
I guess with the water influence here it delays the peak foliage, similar to what someone said about NYC.
Anyway, I put together a slideshow of the photos.
