I am pondering a move to either Northern New Rochelle, or the Larchmont Woods area. What are some good preschools that i should consider for my soon to be 3 year old son??? Also, what is the general price range at some of these schools. Is there any discernible difference in price b/t a preschool in these areas, and those in NYC????
We like the PreSchool Center in New Rochelle on Eastchester Ave. They also have a very good after school program. The whole experience has been very sucessful for us.
We also had a very sucessful experience with the Weekday Nursery School of Christ United Methodist Church with our last pre-schooler. I really like the people here, but it was 6 years ago and I just don't remember price. Here's the link. My youngest had a very nice time here. The people who work here are wonderful.
Let me say that you couldn't have picked a more wonderful place to possibly live. I'm biased as my wife and I made the move from NYC a year ago and settled in the Larchmont Woods / Beechmont Area. We couldn't be more happier with our decision.
As you can possible tell from many post on this site, that New Rochelle get slammed pretty hard. Reason being, its the most diverse demographically & economically when compared to favorites such at Larchmont, Scarsdale, Rye, Bronxville. Port Chester & White Plains are a close second and third, with it comes to demographics.
The Northern end of New Rochelle is extremely nice especially the (Wykagyl, Beechmont, Larchmont Woods) areas. They zoned for either Ward or Davis elementary schools, which are excellent. There is also the Henry Barnard Magnet school for early childhood. This school it tops. The only downside is that its based on a lottery. If your child doesn't get in, the other choices are Davis & Ward, which is still a great option.
Mod cut
Best of luck in your choice of a town to live either way.
