Default looking to live western NC

i've been looking to relocate near Asheville. Hendersonville, Weaverville, and Waynesville are places i've been looking at. i dont want to live in a city, but rather on the outskirts of one. no more than an hours' drive.

for climate i want 70s-80s, and alot of snow in the winter.

i'm into backpacking, and hiking, and want to get into snowboarding once i move.

right now i'm looking for apartments. $400-$650/month

i'm single, going to be living by myself, so no need for good schools.

i currently work at UPS (warehouse), and will be transfering, so i need to be within an hours drive from thier.

i was just on vacation near Franklin and Highlands and Cashiers and really liked it there.

anyone recommend a smaller town i can settle down?

if you want a lot of snow and a mild summer, forget asheville, move to Montana! Look into Missoula, MT. Very cool town.

Confused...you said you were transferring; transferring to a UPS operation in western NC?

If so, that would help any of us on rec'ds, vis a vis commute, locale, etc.

All the places you have looked at are pretty darn good, imo.
GL, mD

PS: We did NY to western NC, 9 years ago...then wimped out after 5 winters at 5,000 ft elev. and now do 7 months here, 5 months in FL.

what i mean is i currently work at UPS, but do not want to live here in FL all my life. so it is better to move sooner than later. and i WILL be transfering, where ever i decide to move wether it'll be western north carolina or california. (i dont want to live in CA, just using an example)

You just haven't looked enough. There are apts in the Weaverville area, Hendersonville, Waynesville, Arden and others. You just need to get off the internet and drive up here for a long weekend and look around. BTW, there are ski slopes around here within an hour drive of Asheville and all the towns you've mentioned are within about 30 min of Asheville. Also, Asheville is far from being a big city.
