Are you planning on going thru Huck Finn by any chance? I think that's one of the best trips on the French Broad, plus I love the little town of Hot Springs

It will be fun! We just rafted with French Broad Rafting just outside of Marshall - they are great people - well-qualified and friendly. The river itself is warm and somewhat shallow (depending upon rainfall) and the rapids are not particularly rough - the scenery is beautiful and there is a nice spot where the kids can jump off a cliff into the water and also a spot where you can jump out of your raft and float alongside. We did the 2 hour trip and we really enjoyed it. The trip ends at Stackhouse which is lovely and rich in history. You won't be disappointed unless you really want Class IV rapids - then I would suggest the Nolichucky - but it's not as close. Have fun!

Thx- we did the Nolichucky last year but it was so low - it was not that fun and VERY cold. We will probably do the 1/2 day on the French Broad- they say it is running great now- forecast is calling for rain though this weekend - what's the difference b/c the USA Raft folks and the French Broad Rafting company?

The French Broad is definitely a notch down on the excitement scale from the Nolichucky (although the rain does help).

Have you considered the Pigeon? It's not far, and has a bit more excitement in my opinion. Or make the drive to the Ocoee -- highly recommend!

I did the French broad company in Marshall a while back and they were very nice. I would recommend them. As someone else said, they let you jump off a cliff and float down some rapids along side the boat. Be warmed though its really difficult to get back in if you are short.
The other company (USA Raft) was extremely rude to us, they have the same drop point and the guides were making fun of us because our rafts/equipment wasn't as new and fancy as theirs. I would never consider them after that.

19E runs into 19/23S (I-26) you exit at Highway 213 ( I think it's only one exit to get to Highway 213) and go through Mars Hill - 213 goes right into 25/70 head north - French Broad Rafting is easy to find on the right side of the road. Your teens will love the bus ride up from Stackhouse - it's so windy and steep!!
