Yes I love the drive on this road too! You can't go wrong in Blue Ridge Mountains! And the Parkway should be a MUST.
Just wanted you to know I thought of you today as we happened to drive past Mabry Mill on the Parkway You seem to love the Parkway as much as I do! How are your vacation plans coming?
Head up to Ashe and Allegheny counties, beautiful! They are 221 NE of Boone, about 40 miles. The towns of Jefferson, West Jefferson and Sparta are really nice.

Plan on canoeing the New River in Jefferson. It it very beautiful in that area and the water perfect for canoeing. Contact Zaloo's Canoes.
Oh yes, and Shatley Springs for some great food! They also have cabins for rent and several little gift shops, and live bluegrass while you wait to be seated in the restaurant.

Oh yes I do LOVE the Parkway!!!!! Thanks for thanking of me. We can't wait to come back in Oct, we got our place booked. Mabry Mill is one of many places on the Parkway that is special to us, I'm hoping we can go back to it in Oct. We also really love Water Rock Knob and Craggy Gardens.
French Broad River (one of the oldest in the world) in Asheville flows North/South - those are the only 3 rivers that do.
"There are countless examples of rivers flowing northward. Some of the most famous rivers that flow north include the world's longest Nile River, Russia's Ob, Lena, and Yenisey Rivers, the Red River in the United States and Canada, Canada's Mackenzie River, and California's San Joaquin River.
There are dozens, if not hundreds, of additional rivers and streams that flow northward around the world.
Therefore, know that rivers often flow north and that rivers only flow downhill!"
