Default Boating......

We have a 17' boat that we'd are contemplating bringing with us when we move next month. Is there any worthwhile boating areas around/close to Western NC? We inquired at Lake Lure but WOW, they wanted like $500 per year to launch a boat.

Thanks.

How far are you going to be from Lake James? When you see that lake you will be sick that you didn't bring your boat along.

Crazy isnt it!!! I think the logic behind Lake Lures ridiculous fees is, it keeps the day trippers away. The Lake is not that big and if tons of people brought a boat up for the day it would be kaos. I can walk to the marina, I live 1/4 mile away in a neighboring town and I would have to pay the same rate. It ticks me off, but I figure since Im so close I can use the boat frequently thereby making it worthwhile. Now if I could just find a good boat at a great price!
