Info needed on Asheville recruiter/headhunter please!
Greetings!
I have every intention of moving to Asheville, NC and have been having a little trouble finding a recruiter or headhunter that applies to my field and/or employment opportunity qualifications. Any ideas from someone in the area?
I know that once I get into the right loop of information I will be able to find the appropriate headhunter for me.
For relevance, my general objective is as follows:
Quote:
Primarily, I am considering a senior position in training development or related sales position. My experience working with a major training provider in custom curriculum development covers a wide variety of industries. I have developed the ability to work directly with business leaders to develop relevant training tied to business objectives and designed to validate return on investment (ROI) through the identification of smart business metrics.
Additionally, I have significant experience working directly with a sales team as a specialist to support the solution value proposition and bring the sales cycle to a close. Through working directly with clients in the defining stages of a new client relationship I have proven my ability to design solutions that work well for both the client and the production team.
My goal is to bring my skills to a team who is interested in developing training programs that are best in class for the target industry. I am looking for an opportunity to work with an organization interested in developing training that is not only highly effective but also directly ties to the corporate goals - and is able to prove it's value through real application of smart metrics that establish the ROI on training initiatives.

Thank you very much in advance!

I cannot help you with the headhunter thing, but I will caution you that Asheville is no mecca for that kind of job, and if you were to be able to find that sort of job, the pay would likely be lower than you may be expecting. I work in the software industry here in Asheville and make decent money, but if I were to lose my job for some reason, I would end up having to move out of town due to lack of opportunity/decent wage. This is a tourist/service based economy with a dearth of good office/technical/manufacturing jobs. Good luck in your search.

Roxors - thanks for the info. I am aware that Asheville is not necessarily the best suited place for my industry, it is more about what type of place I want to live. Asheville, by all accounts, is one of those places. I will be visiting next month to check a few things out and see if the info matches the reality.
Also, I know that in a market like Asheville finding something that is suitable may take a while - I plan on creating a relationship with a recruiter who will be able to assist me when something comes up.
Re: salary - yes I could definitely make significantly more in areas like DC, Seattle, Chicago, RTP, OC, etc - however, according to the information I have researched the salary in comparison with cost of living especially housing is quite reasonable in Asheville - I'd make less, but it would buy me more. Thoughts?

Bad job market
As nice as asheville is, the job market is notoriously crummy. despite it's current vogue, Asheville's history is working class. THe 80's brought the sink of the Tobacco market and the end of many factory jobs. these low property values (at the time) and beautiful scenery brought in the arts crowd who gave the city it's lively flavor.
While you are not doomed, a common statement often heard by locals that when moving here is to "bring your own job."
Good luck

Good analysis Bobbie. I do like it here, but am prepared to move in a couple years when my son gets out of high school. I can buy a much nicer house for the money in the Greensboro area and stay with my current employer.

So Ellie, I am just reading your 2006 post now, and am actively trying to sell my house in NH and move to Asheville. Curious to know whether you ended up in Asheville and how you are doing? Craig B.
