I visited Cataloochee Valley in the Great Smokies National Park yesterday. I took a couple hundred photos using my Canon EOS 7D camera and the huge f/2.9 400mm lens I bought with my inheritance from my late dad. That way, Dad goes hunting with me a lot.

Six of the best shots are here. Check them out, I think you'll like them:

Great pics.

One my dreams is to see elk in the wild...

We went out west for a vacation and the time of year was wrong, the elf were up in the mountains....saw one dead on the side of the road but wasn't quite what I was wanting...

Went through WNC one winter with visiting family from Australia, they saw and took a video of some elk in Cherokee...I missed it.

I am thinking I am not supposed to see elk in the wild...

How competitive is it to get Elk tags? I know it won't be available in the National Park, but are there other areas outside the Park?
