I'm wondering if there are any restaurants or stores in the area that sells pre-made picnic lunches? Sandwiches, fruits and veggies, a bottle of wine maybe, ready to go? In theory I could prepare my own picnic, but it would be awesome if I could just stop in some where and grab it to go!

Why not try something from Laurey's - I'm not sure if they do pic-nic baskets specifically but I'm sure you could get all that you need.
Laurey's Catering & Gourmet-to-go

Or maybe even Greenlife?

Where are you going to be picnicking? Poppy's in Brevard makes great sandwiches to go and has everything you would need for a picnic lunch.

I actually don't have a picnic spot in mind right now. I live in Durham currently but grew up near Asheville, and I go out to the mountains every chance I get. Since I have to drive a good 3 - 4 hours to get there, it's nice to be able to leave in the morning, and stop somewhere to pick up food before heading out somewhere for a picnic and a hike. I went up there a couple days ago and ended up just getting lunch in Asheville before heading out.

I will definitely check out Poppy's when I'm up that way again, hopefully in the next 2 or 3 weeks!
