How would you know? If they not bothering you then perhaps you should stay out of other people's business. The last thing I would do is call the police because your senses are disturbed by the private affairs of other consenting adults.

Wow @NC Paddler - you let loose a tempest in a teapot Prostitution in Asheville is really nothing new. It's been a well known fact in this area for many, many years - pretty much as long as I can remember.

They used to congregate over on Lexington Avenue - Those nice condos by the US Cellular Center used to be one of the more well known hooker hotels - I think it was called the Interstate Motel. I remember seeing them all lined up around that corner with Lexington when I was a kid. Then Lexington started having a renaissance of sorts (late 80's maybe?) then they all moved over to Ashland Avenue right next to the Hot Spot ... until the city tore down those abandoned houses.

Then they moved over the Coxe Avenue (appropriate I know ) until the condos went in .. then they went to South French Broad and I guess now with the "South Slope" development and trend they've been moved over the West Asheville ... My point being is that Prostitution is, while not a huge issue, has been a fixture in the Asheville area for a very long time.

I am ashamed that I know so much about this LOL - But like Asheville Native says, the rose colored glasses do have to come off and Asheville does have its warts. We have crime, we have prostitution, we have homelessness, we have drug abuse. Everything is not perfect in Asheville ... she is what she is ... The real question is whether or not she's perfect for you?

What would scare me more is a town full of "perfect" people.

This discussion reminds me of a visit to Asheville about 25 years ago. We saw some prostitutes hanging out by a phone booth near the old bus station and boy were they dolled up to the nines. Looked like Jessica from Roger rabbit.

Contrast this with Knoxville where the prostitutes are plain if not downright ugly. Dressed pretty average. You have to know who they are because of where they are hanging out, maybe how they are walking. I have a rental house on one of "those" blocks and had to develop a hairy eyeball stare for when I was over working on the place and had to park across the street.

I guess I'm wondering if Asheville still has a higher caliber of working girl?
