Default Franklin, NC what's it like for families to live there?

Hi,
Looking for info about the above, considering moving there to buy a campground as a business/lifestyle choice. We have 2 children aged 4 and 7. Plus my mum aged 63 (she's originally from America).
What are the schools like?
Are the people friendly?
We are from England.
Is there a public bus service, my mum doesn't drive and won't always want to rely on us for transport.
Many thanks.

I can't answer all your questions, but there would not be public transportation as you think of it because Franklin is a very small town.

The town I currently live in (Hiawassee, GA) is also a small mountain town and they did purchase a few small buses that could be available on an "on call" basis for the residents. I read about it over a year ago and I'm not even sure the program is still available.

Maybe Franklin has something like that. Other than that, there is no public transportation. You'd have to go to Asheville for that. Possibly Hendersonville has public transportation too.

Maybe someone there can weigh in.
