Exclamation Desperately wanting to relocate

My family and I moved to Greensboro in 1991. We are originally from Syracuse, NY. Since then I have moved back home and returned several times to be closer to family. I am very unhappy in Greensboro and always have been. Recently there has been a mutual family decision to relocate together. I have researched what seems to be every county, large and small city, and all the towns in between. This is the dilema:

The women like the warm weather. The men and myself don't mind a mild winter. As a family we are looking for areas with great school reputations, job selections, and affordable cost of living. I would like to find an area that hopefully can accomodate everyone. However, if not, I am still looking for the best options for myself.

I am a 30 yr old single mother of 2. This will be my daughters last year of elementary and my sons first. Quality schools are VERY important. I am a full-time college student studying to teach special education. I also need a selection of reputable schools. My most recent line of work as been in the food service business due to my school schedule. I have many years of customer service experience as well. I love the mountainous regions as opposed to the beach. Being that I manage a single parent family, cost of living definately needs to be affordable. I like visiting small quaint towns, but need to be close enough to civilization. I am a woman who appreciates convenience. Although, at the same time would like to stay clear of the hustle and bustle of large cities. Though the nite life is not so important to me, opportunity to meet other singles close to my age would be nice. I also have to mention my son is Autistic. He requires special services that are not readily available in Guilford County without a huge waiting list.

I know this has been lengthy and quite needy, so for everyone who has read this far, I GREATLY APPRECIATE YOU!! I could use all the advice you have to give.

Thanks a bunch!!

Default May wanna check into Morganton

Hey there!! Read your post and it sounds like you may need to visit Morganton, NC. Located in the foothills (below Asheville) so nice small town but they do have Western Carolina Center <very well respected> there and they offer a variety of services that may be what you are looking for your son. They have Western Piedmont Community College as well as a Satellite Gardner-Webb campus. I am 35 and was born and raised there. Only downside - not much of a social scene. I was a single mom for 12 years and moved to Hickory 10 years ago, which would be another good option depending on your sons needs {30 min from Morganton} but it has alot more to offer - resturaunts, jobs, nightlife, Catawba Valley Community College, Lenoir Rhyne College etc. of course downside to Hickory - cost of living. Anyway, hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!!! Let me know if you have any questions about this area.
