I'm trying to research potential daycares for my 7-month-old, but I'm having a surprisingly difficult time finding solid information online. I keep finding lists that are mostly comprised of schools for older kids or church-based care, and very few reviews from actual parents. Anyone have experience with any relatively progressive, loving daycare centers for young children, preferably in the north, west, or Woodfin/Weaverville areas? No Christian-based care. Also, if you know they require immunizations, that doesn't work for us. Thanks for your help!

I don't believe there are any day cares that allow children without immunizations. The only way I know of people getting around this, especially when the child reaches school age is proving it was for religious reasons.

as far as I know, it is bylaw in many states and daycares HAVE to insist having the (basic) immunizations done. you can get waivers for several immunizations though (I am sure you know).

you may look into private daycares.

I don't like how many immunizations are required at a very young age, since it is a LOT for a little body to deal with. But we got ours done step by step and have had no problems.

It does not surprise me, the negative posts outweigh the positive one's here - we still have so many diseases, children (and adults) still die of ... and their death is totally unnecessary. Overall immunizations are an achievement, not a threat.

But IF there is a daycare, which does not require immunizations (at ALL ?), Asheville might be the place to be, I guess ...

I don't think, people with no immunizations will threaten my family badly (even there is ALWAYS some risk left), since we are protected, but I would feel guilty putting especially newborns or unhealthy people on a high risk.

ok, sorry, got carried away, immunizations are always a hot topic - but discussions also help to change things, right (yes, I know, the OP wanted to have a plain answer .... ).

You have made the perfect choice, choosing not to vaccinate...It's going to be very hard to find a daycare that feels the same way..You might be better off trying to figure some way to make an income at home..maybe a daycare for unvaccinated infants??If I ran a daycare I'd be very uncomfortable taking in kids who've BEEEn vaccinated, if the child has a bad reaction, and he/she is in your care...guess who's going to be blamed?

Its tough to find secular day care in the South, but Asheville might be the place to do it.

In terms of not vaccinating your kids, lots of diseases that were virtually eradicated thanks to vaccinations are starting to come back. Herd immunity is beginning to run out thanks to the anti-vax craze. The more people that opt out of vaccinating their kids, the more danger their kids will be in.

I'd like to remind everyone that ^^ this ^^ is the OP's question.

If you want to discuss the pros/cons of vaccinations, take it to the Health & Wellness forum -- it's OFF TOPIC here and such posts have been (and will be) deleted.

Thanks.

No, take it to Politics and Other Controversies, as it has become a controversial subject.
