Interesting...

I guess if you are going to off yourself, you would be hard pressed to find a more beautiful location.

Was thinking the same thing

Actually, I believe the second most popular is the Grand Canyon. Since that is also one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen I think the same "logic" applies.

It's also a lot more easy to access than a lot of Nat'l Parks. I would guess ease access would have a lot to do with it.

I wonder how much money was spent on this seven year study???

Speaking of which, did any of you see the magnificent film "Goodbye Solo"? The filmmaker grew up in Greensboro. One of the main characters is on a quest to kill himself in Blowing Rock.

Also a common place to dump dead bodies, or dismembered body parts. There have been several instances near Asheville in the last couple of years. (near Oteen and Bent Creek)

A couple of factors to keep this in perspective:

The Parkway is over 400 miles long, and has many access points, so lots more opportunities for such situations than in any other park;

The Parkway passes through or immediately adjacent to both Asheville and Roanoke, Va - so easy access to more population than many other national parks.
