Default Leaves

Can someone tell me when the leaves typically change in the mountains along the blue ridge parkway. we are coming up for another week to check out the greensboro area for moving possibilities and would like to see the autumn colors.

Thanks

Default leaves

Leaves at the higher elevations in NC generally are at their peak around the middle of October (let's say Oct 15-20). In Greensboro at a lower elevation, it's about a week later.

By the end of October, the leaves are normally off the trees at the higher elevations. Again, about a week after that in the Piedmont area.

Some years are better than others. I didn't think much of the last two Fall seasons. In my area (Asheville), it went pretty much from green to brown to ground. It has to do with rain and temperature in the just right amounts at just the right time.
