Can anyone recommend some relatively quiet, primitive camp sites in Mitchell county? I realize it's tough to get the real solitude without backpacking into the wilderness, but can anyone share some nice primitive camping spots that don't require a hike in?
I'd prefer the Mt. Mitchell area, but am flexible too.
If memory serves me right, I think there are some primitive sites going up the road that leads to Mt. Mitchell, just next to Black Mountain campground. Can anyone confirm that, or offer other suggestions?
Thank you.
p.s. Trying to avoid RVs, if at all possible.

Reason: added p.s.
I have camped in the primitive area on Mt Mitchell and it was great! You have to haul everything up a small hill and I bellieve it is first come on picking sites. They do have toliets.
