Talking Property tax.

Hi, all!
My wife and I were quite taken with the Hendersonville area, and plan to re-locate there. I understand the property taxes are quite low, but someone told me that there is some other kind of tax-a tax based on the personal property that you own....like a car or a truck, or even something like a big TV can get taxed every YEAR?
Is this for real, or should I tell him to jump in the lake?

Can't wait to join ya,
-Gene

Your vehicles, travel trailers, etc. The contents of your home are covered by a possession tax based on the value of your home. And yep, it is every year, and the state will not renew your license plates unless the taxes are paid the previous year.

Bringing cars with you, you gonna pay "sales tax" on those cars to get your NC plates. The plate renewal will then trigger the state to send your county your information and you will get your "property" tax bill for that vehicle about 2 months after getting your NC plates.

NC has never seen a tax it didn't like

And don't forget to count a vehicle inspection (yearly) fee, and if you simply forget to have your car reinspected, the $250 fine will come in the mail automatically about 2 months after your inspection sticker expires.
