One of our favorites is Lulu's in Sylva. However the menu is not your usual. If you want a steak you are out of luck. But they have some interesting food that is well done. They have been there a lot of years, so they must be doing something right.
Queen: I'm told by someone who is a regular (like two or three times a week regular for takeout) at Cinnamon Kitchen it is owned by the same same people who own India Garden. I'm not surprised, since we like both very much. I almost mentioned Cinnamon Kitchen myself (since I mentioned Sogo, across the parking lot). My only complaint is we like spicy food, and CK only spices it up when we tell them to turn it up to maximum, and then it is sometimes still muted. But as for the other flavors.....thumbs up from the Mule stable.

interesting ! I've tried both and liked the cinnamon kitchen more, since they seem to have much more veggies included. and ... dear husband does not like spicy food at all, so I guess that's why he likes the cinnamon kitchen more (besides it's only five minutes from us).
btw when we moved here, I discovered the WNC insider savingscard. I love the idea of having so many buy one/get one offers from restaurants, theaters, entertainment companies etc. the card is 40 bucks and well invested. not sure if I am allowed to put a link on here, but it's easy to google. I think, around 50 restaurants are listed on their directory and it's the perfect way to discover places, you may not be going if they were NOT listed there. you might discover a real gem this way
I always hit up Mamacita's whenever I'm in Asheville. The Bistro and Stable Cafe at Biltmore Estate are worth a visit as well, though I think normally you have to do the tour to eat at either.
