Default looking for a non-vacation home to rent

My Wife and I are planning to relocate to the Swain County area of NC very soon. We're currently in Nashville, TN. I can't find anything except expensive cabins for vacations. It would help us very much if anyone knew of a realtor or anything like that. It's very hard to find normal (non tourist) information about that area. Thank you.

Did you search 'Swain County' at all?
Several links of info, including a City Data link:
http://www.city-data.com/county/Swain_County-NC.html

I glanced at the RE sites, but didn't see much in terms of non-'vacay' style rentals, but I would think there are some...
Lightly populated, but large geography, as in ~13,000 legal residents, plus part time non rez.

If you and your wife are "planning to relocate" there, I would hope you have more info on the area than you seem to have.

Swain County's newspaper The Smoky Mountain Times has weekly ads of places for rent.

I think the swain market is mostly cabins aka wooden mcmansions or golden birdhouse. I found reasonable prices are in virginia or closer to ga, maybe next year when the economy crashes good deals will pop up.

We found a rental house in Madison County by searching all of the real estate that is FOR SALE and then finding someone who has had their home on the market for a while and is interested in renting - lots of people never considered it - but we found someone who WAS! Perhaps you can do the same in Swain County?
